News and Notes:

NextMD
In December 2011, Winchester Orthopaedics
launched NextMD.
NextMD
is a patient portal service that eliminates
time-consuming phone calls and allows you, the patient,
on-line access to your physician's office.
With
NextMD, you can access a wealth of
general health information online, view new
messages from the practice or take advantage
of these many powerful benefits:
-
Access
and request documents related to your
electronic chart.
-
Request a
non-urgent appointment or confirm an
appointment. For all urgent issues, we
ask that you call our office.
-
Receive
documents from your doctor such as
immunization records, return to
work/school forms, lab result and visit
summaries.
-
Receive
important notifications such as drug
recalls or guidance, tailored to your
specific health plan, chronic
conditions, and disease management.
-
Many new
features, such as the ability to fill
out forms and pre-visit questionnaires,
and online doctor visits are on the
horizon.
-
No health
information is sent via email. When a
message is sent from the doctor's
office, you receive an email stating you
have a new message from Winchester
Orthopeadic and are directed to log in
to NextMD to review.
If interested in enrolling in
the free service, contact Jaime at our
office.

Each holiday season,
Winchester Orthopaedic Associates chooses a local
organization to donate gifts, food and/or money to
provide the recipients of their services a holiday to
remember. For the 2011 season, we chose The Laurel
Center (formerly The Shelter for Abused Women) and
sponsored a family.
The Team Members of WOA
graciously donated gifts, money and grocery gift cards.
Team Members had organized a Chili Cook-off as a
fundraiser earlier in the year; the $115 collected
during this event was donated to the family.
Collectively, we were able to donate $240 in cash and
gift cards. Two large boxes of non-perishable food were
also given to the family.
We look forward to
continuing this tradition in years to come.

Arthritis Walk
fund-raising event was on Saturday, May 17, 2008
The Arthritis Walk is
an annual, nationwide fund-raising event to raise money
for the Arthritis Foundation to help find a cure for
arthritis. Locally, the walk was on Saturday, May 17,
2008 at Sherando High School / Sherando Park in Stephens
City, VA. Winchester Orthopaedic Associates, LTD
participated for its 2nd year and had 10 “Fabulous
Femurs” walk this year. The "Fabulous Femurs" team
included: Ellen, Tina, Kris, Judy, Sheila, LeAnn, Erika,
Lorraine, Roberta and Collin. The Fabulous Femurs
raised funds from donations, bake sale goodies, ice
cream sundaes, and ice cream floats. The Physicians of
Winchester Orthopaedic made a “matching gift” donation
to complement the individual efforts of the team for a
total donation of $2,277. The weather for
Saturday's Arthritis Walk was wonderful - filled with
sunshine, smiles, and friendly faces. It was great
exercise, too! Thanks to all the participants and
contributors. To find out more about arthritis and the
annual Arthritis Walk, visit
