Patient Instruction:

 

Winchester Orthopaedic Associates, Ltd. will contact your insurance company to obtain pre-authorization for an exam. The office will schedule all diagnostic testing, referrals, and epidural steroid injections that were ordered by the physician. The office will then contact the patient via telephone or mail after this has been arranged. This process can take anywhere from 7 to 14 business days or longer.

Bone Scan Instructions:

You do not need to make any special preparations for this examination. You may eat normally. This is scheduled at Winchester Medical Center. Enter the hospital through the Outpatient Entrance and register at the Outpatient Registration desk in the lobby. Arrive approximately 30 minutes before your appointment time. Please have your insurance information with you.

The examination will be done in the Nuclear Medicine Department. At the time of your appointment you will be given an injection and the technologist will ask you to return to the Nuclear Medicine Department approximately three to four hours later for the remainder of the examination. During this time you may eat and drink normally. Imaging usually takes 45 minutes.

Please remember to take your signed physician's order to registration the day of your appointment.
